About The Village Store, Wangford

L1040148

The Village Store is located in the quiet Suffolk Village of Wangford, a short distance inland from the picturesque coastal town of Southwold. The Village Store has been a prominent part of life in Wangford going back over a hundred years with a store operating from the building since 1879 serving the needs of generations of Villagers.

The Store has passed through many owners over the last hundred years or so and is currently owned by Jean and Neil Rattenbury.

We moved to Wangford in the summer of 2014 with our two children after long careers working in London to pursue our dream of running our own business. Our aim is to develop a Village Store with a difference and since then we have been busy trying to make this dream a reality.

Under our ownership the Store has benefited greatly from a complete refurbishment and now offers a bright, modern shopping environment with state of the art refrigeration and lighting. The product range has been significantly expanded and is under constant review, two factors guide our approach:

  • Range: the Store stocks over 3,000 different product lines from paperclips to Claret
  • Price: with constantly changing in store promotions, everyday value products and many premium lines we aim to selectively cover as many price points as we can

Our everyday value range is supplied by Spar and forms the core of our product range which we have supplemented with many premium lines sourced from local suppliers. We are always keen to meet local food producers and add interesting new products to the Store so this side of our business is constantly growing and changing.

Service and ease of shopping are also high on our list of things that make a difference. With ample free parking, easy access, friendly and knowledgeable staff we hope to make visiting the store an easy and enjoyable experience.

The Village Store has always been a focal point of Village life and offers a warm and friendly atmosphere and if you have visited our store hopefully you will agree that we are on the way to making it a store with a difference. If you haven’t already visited us please do drop in, you are assured a warm and friendly welcome.
